Pushed To the Limit. An Opportunity to Maintain Balance. Also, Being Gentle Towards Self ..12/2/12

  My Sunday Gratitudes:
Isn't stress fun?
1.  I had a terrific time with new clients today, a couple. I like working with couples. It is such a privilege having a window into the inner works of another universe.  I'm meeting with them next week, too.
2.  I was corrected this evening and deserved it.  I enjoy honest
relationships.  Being corrected provides me opportunities for growth.  It is a relief knowing that I am not what I do.
3.  I was bone-weary in the afternoon---I've haven't seen this many clients in a week since I worked in a psychiatric hospital.
Yet, I did household chores, made dinner, and called five prospective clients.  I'm thankful for discipline and structuring my day, living by priorities, maintaining balance. Eliminating activities, temporarily, while weathering a flurry of work.
Being Gentle Towards Self
I forgot to do something practical yesterday.  It's not the end of the world, but I hurt myself, by overlooking an opportunity.

I realize I'm human. Work has consumed my time and energy the past three weeks. The next seven days will also be a rough go.  It's important being gentle towards ourselves. You can read more about this subject, here.
4.  What is the gratitude I have for neglecting something in my best interest?  I didn't beat myself up.
5.  I appreciate the young lady who is interning with me.  She is diligent, smart, industrious and conscientious, in addition to being pleasant and motivated.  I'm glad having her help, she's contributing towards my effectiveness.
6. I'm thankful for Carl being a guest blogger today.
If you haven't read it, please take a look. You can read it here.

Can I hear a hip, hip hurray for his post?  I appreciate teaming with him. Thank you, Carl!
7. I wasn't rained on today. Being that I ride my bike, much, it was great getting around without getting drenched. Cycling helps me, enormously: it discharges pressure.  I feel better, sleep better and it enhances my health.
8. I'm under stress---I'm handling demands.  I'm gradually seeing the mountain of challenges, getting smaller.  Remembering to look at the progress not perfection of my life is a form of personal right sizing.

I have two big deadlines to meet this week and one more a week from Saturday. Such moments compel me to spend time with God, I am unable to handle stress alone. I wasn't meant to. Being extruded into a closer relationship with God is always a good thing.
9. Today, while working, a professional I was working with was disorganized. I took deep breaths and was patient towards her.  I let go of my frustration and related to her with kindness. I'm thankful I do not allow circumstances to dictate my moods.
How About You?
What is pressure you are experiencing that is helping you to grow, to place principles above your personality?
