Innkeeper Update

    Hey everyone,

I'd value your prayers. There are many issues wanting to swamp my time. Knowing priorities holds back the tide of demands that would engulf me, if I were not diligent in using boundaries.

    During this busy time, your support is appreciated.  I'll see about showing up later, after finishing a project.

    Reading your gratitudes would be a wonderful tonic, during this challenging time.  Don't worry. I'm taking this evening fifteen minutes at a time----staying in the moment.

    See you later,

         Pablo

Hope things get a little less hectic for you Pablo.

A gratitude that comes to mind today is Christmas music. I listen to it every day on my way to and from work and it has a way of bringing happiness into my heart!

Dear Innkeeper,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you manage your daily challenges, while healing the fragile minds, hearts, and souls of your clients and friends. Please take whatever time you need to replenish your own body and soul!

My Tuesday Gratitudes are;

1. That a new colleague was willing, in my stead, to travel two hours north to deliver an "urgently needed" item, only to have it sent back!

2. That I could be scolded by a chef for missing an appointment today, only to learn upon review of my earlier email, that, in fact, I was suggesting we meet tomorrow, not today. "How Sweet It Is," as Jackie Gleason used to say on "The Honeymooners," to learn you are correct for a change!

3. That I learned more today at Kaiser about how one manages a total knee replacement; potentially life-changing!

4. That I could celebrate our #2 sons 28th Birthday at our favorite family Chinese Restaurant, have a wonderful, light, agenda-free conversation, and even receive this fortune; "Be curious always. For knowledge will not acquire you, you must acquire it."

5. That we could grab an extra meal for our #3 son who had to work and could not join us, and that he was grateful, even somewhat chatty afterwords.

6. That I could complete a first draft of some creative writing I've been working on for a few days.

7. That I'm finally beginning to figure out how to do my job better; correctly. "Stranger in a Strange Land," until recently

Dear Innkeeper,

This Wednesday evening I am Grateful;

1. For a brisk, athletic winter bike ride under crystal-clear wind-puffed, white cloudy blue skies by Otis Redding's "dock of the bay." And yes, those are real seagulls you hear in the song!

2. For candid and deeply reflective conversation with my mentor and friend over coffee this evening about ones personal "shadows/ghosts," and about repentance (a saving grace)and forgiveness. And for the quote, "If God isn't near, guess who moved!"

3. For the great Emerson quote from "Self Reliance" which reads..."Men imagine they communicate their virtue...only by overt actions and words. They do not see that virtue or its opposite emits a breath at every moment."

4. For a kind soul-mates grace. Seeing her sweaty, bone-tired, hungry husband shuffle home, she told me to stay home and rest, while she attended a fellow parishioner's memorial service.

5. To have some quiet time to decompress from the days challenges, insights and joys.

6. For the beautiful video
Landfill Harmonic about a miraculous children's orchestra in Paraguay. http://now.msn.com/landfill-harmonic-documentary-features-recycled-orchestra

Keith,

Thanks for dropping by. I'm tardy in replying---I'm just surfacing from an intense season of work. Sorry for the delay.

I appreciate your visits. I, too, enjoy Christmas music.

Dear Carl,

I appreciate your sensitivity as I'm experiencing pressure. I'm impressed that you did not take it personally when the chef corrected you in error.

I'm happy hearing the day is drawing near, when you'll have a restored knee!

That quote by Emerson I love. It inspires me. Thank you, Carl, for your consistency in posting gratitudes. You bless this place when you do.
