Life Doesn't Get Any Better Than Today---Enjoying Abundance 6/17/13

Abundance is not in how much we
have, but in how much we enjoy.
   Good late evening everyone,

How was your Monday?  Mine was busy, but good; the weather was fantastic throughout the day.
I can't say my baseball team, enjoyed today. They arrived from Atlanta at 4:00 a.m. this morning, started a game at 7:15 p.m., losing it at 11:50 pm, just now, in the thirteenth inning, after more than four-and-a-half hours of play.

      Normally, I'm
cooped inside, when working.  Not so, on this day.  Being outdoors, working in a courtyard setting was a terrific change of venue.  As nature rejuvenated me, I did the same----helping others needing my services.

After working in San Leandro, I headed for Oakland, attending a business meeting.  What I learned there was inspiring.  I also spoke---twice---enjoying the opportunity to self-express.

I've been up since five this morning, and am fading as I write.  The good news is I am resting tomorrow morning.  Ya ay!

My Gratitudes For Monday:
1.  I continue to bask in the rich time of fellowship and fun that was had Sunday night.  Laughing, and being with others, where there was no tension, was a tonic needed before this week started.

Loving My Vocation
It's satisfying, helping others become the person they want to be.  I am glad I'm making a difference in the lives of those I serve.  I appreciate opportunities to exercise my abilities and expertise.
My work is not a source of tension.  It's a source of joy.  Gratitude number two: I love the work I do.

3.  I appreciate new additions to my clientele.  Others are requesting my services after seeing their friends----clients of mine----thrive, who at one time were in deep despair or agitation.

Working 21st Century Style
On Friday, I had a session with a woman, using Skype.  She lives in the state of Washington.  The marvels of modern technology has brought my profession to new levels.  It was like a Star Trek episode, us communicating visually and audibly, while separated by more than eight hundred miles.

The cyber session made the day different, challenging and fulfilling.  Technology has expanded the scope of where I can assist others, we now live in a global village, I can help anyone, anywhere in the world. Gratitude number four: I'm thankful for variety and the ability to help anyone, if they seek my help.

Today, the husband of one client was upset with me.  He didn't understand why I didn't see things his way.  I was not swayed when he tried bullying me.  He was startled that I was not intimidated by his anger or his forcefulness, trying to get me see things his way.

I'm thankful for maintaining my integrity, I don't let others determine my moods or define who I am. That's gratitude number five.

Being There for Another
I spoke with a fellow who was recently let go from his job.  We ended our time in prayer.  I disagree with the way his situation was handled.

I will mention my concerns to those who made the decision, I know them.  I don't expect to change them;  that's not my intention.  I simply will express my feelings that this person was not given a chance, training or support he deserved.  We'll meet later this week.  I was happy I could be available for someone in their time of need. (Number six.)

How About You?
What are your three gratitudes for today?

I am grateful to finally have the energy, the hope, and the confidence to attempt writing in my blog again. The power of the mind is overwhelming.

I am happy to be on the left coast a little closer to my good friend Pablo. I am in Victoria BC with my parents.

I am glad to see my thesis supervisor who guided me through a horrible experience known as depression and mania. I am proud to be here to graduate tomorrow. It's been a crazy journey.

Dear Vanessa,

I'm so glad to hear from you! I'm sad that you've been going through a tough patch in life. As always, you can find comfort here.

Also, you can send an e-mail,or better yet---we could Skype (my Skype name is pablocfuentessr.,you have to include the period)---when you are going through a difficult time. I care. I've missed you.

It would be terrific meeting you. Maybe someday we can, if you are in the SF area.

I'm happy you are celebrating a key moment in your life. May you have a wonderful time with your folks. If you make it down here, I'd treat your folks to dinner and ice cream at my favorite place, Fentons!

Dear Innkeeper,

Tonight, Tuesday, June 18th, I am grateful for;

1. For an exciting NBA Finals overtime, cliff-hanger, even if my team lost. At least we have one last shot at "Icing the Heat" in Game 7!

2. That my wonderful wife (she must have prayed to St. Anthony...) found my missing sunglasses on Father's Day afternoon in of all places, the dishwasher, luckily before someone ran it! I had been hunting high and low, and finally found them sitting on my dinner plate, pre-dinner!

3. A perfect Father's Day with wife and three of our four sons pitching in on making breakfast smoothies, BBQ'ing dinner, setting the table, washing dishes and even joining in a couple of rounds of Tile Rummey!

4. Once again my wife's prevailing wisdom when trying to sort through some complicated concerns and emotions. She simplified it all with, 1. Would you rather be right or be happy, 2. How important is it, 3. Quit taking it personally, and 4. It's none of your business, etc. Good perspective when over-thinking, over-dramatizing or over-reacting.

Dear Carl,

Thank you for your gratitudes. I wasn't aware you were a fan of basketball. You've been having challenges with your sunglasses, haven't you?

It sounds like your time with your family provided the companionship and closeness that all of us want with our families. You must be happy, having loving connections with your sons and wife.

What would you do without your wife? I appreciate you sharing your concerns and wish you a great day tomorrow, Thursday.
