Honoring Those Who Served, Unwinding In the Wind ..5/27/13

Appreciating This Day

On this Memorial Day, I'm thankful I live in the United States and am proud to be an American.  I live in a great country, doing my part to make this world a bit better.

I'm grateful for the men and women who serve our country through military duty.  I honor those who gave "the last full measure of devotion" upholding
our country's values.  I enjoy the freedoms I have as U.S. citizen, they let me thrive and celebrate independence and the richness of life.

A Day to Unwind in the Wind

Cycling with a friend in two hours is on today's agenda.  We'll trace the shore of the San Francisco Bay while passing the many marinas that dot the island on which I live.

Encountering couples, friends and families spending time along the beach, enjoying  the fabulous weather, will certainly happen.  Cycling out the stress and the frustrations life brings is a good way of taking care of myself and thriving---it also lets me sleep better.

The smell of kelp, the lapping bay waters as they gently lap the shore and the plaintive cries of birds nurture me more than anything the internet offers.  The panoramic, unobstructed view of the San Francisco peninsula and the roaring wind blowing in my ears are a tonic for this innkeeper's soul.  Pushing the bike pedals and applying torque on the shoreline's gritty surface, make the wheels shimmy and is one of my simple pleasures.

My soul and two-wheeled steed celebrate life when that happens.  The vigor of good health and the beauty of nature help me maintain an Attitude of Gratitude.

How About You?
When and how do you enjoy the great big life you have?

Well-said Pablo. What a beautiful tribute to those who have served us so selflessly...some giving their very all.

Keith,

I resonate with your positivity. Thank you, you know how to encourage my efforts here, in the inn. I'm working on becoming timely in my replies. But,it is never too late to do what is right.

I know you help many in the work you do, because of your kind nature.

Blessings to you!
