A Full Week

   Good evening,

Have you missed me?  The past few days I've vacationed from my duties as innkeeper.  So hectic was this week that I've crashed when arriving at home each night

My Gratitudes:
1.  I met with the board of directors who oversee my work, yesterday.  A good time was had.  The result is having greater clarity about the direction of my business and the vision we have for it.
2.  I'm helping my son as he's making inroads into going to graduate school. I know key people who work at the U.C. Berkeley Haas School of Business, where he wants to attend. I'm arranging for him to meet them, this upcoming Tuesday.
3.  I rode my bike plenty this week. Cycling is helping me get fitter, sleep better and make time for me.
4.  This evening, I played Pit, a fun game, with friends. We had plenty of fun, laughter and a three hours of bonding.
5.  This week I spent time with my oldest son. I love him a lot. Our times together meet my need for connection, support, love and mutual respect. I'm fortunate having amazing sons.
6.  Wednesday I cycled for a sixteen miles with a friend. Was it lovely. The view was crisp, clear. The air was scrubbed by a bracing wind. Visibility was thirty miles.

Even though the ride was amazing, the connection with my cycling buddy was even better.

How About You?
What are your three gratitudes for today?

My gratitudes:

28 days without negative thoughts and I am feeling good.

Resisting my impulses and choosing the more logical route.

Taking breaks from work to recharge and renew.

My gratitudes:

On this beautiful, hazy, but soon to be warm Saturday morning I am grateful...

1. For friends at work who are good, kind-hearted and spiritual - kindred souls. In particular, a wise-for-his-31 years, U.C. Berkeley grad, entrepreneurial Chinese chap with keen intuition and insight into the good, bad and ugly of the other. He exercises healthy boundaries re; such characters, for his own sanity and serenity. I'm proud of him for that!

2. For my mentors lessons in "staying in the solution," and not getting wrapped around the axle of the unexpected and unfortunate drama of others, especially our #3 son; be it family or friends.

3. For the fact my mentor has the enthusiasm (" being in God")zeal for life, and youthful,child-like heart to organize board-game fun nights for adults. I look forward to attending the next one, hopefully soon!

4. For the opportunity my Polish wife Grazyna and I have to celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary (again) and escape to the pristine seashore of Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, between Monterey and Carmel. We will be with four other couples using the long weekend to "exhale," after weeks of life's intensities.

5. That we might actually get under-way by 9:00 AM, as planned. This would be a modern miracle folks...really!

6. That our youngest son, St. Anthony will be home to feed our aging Yellow Lab, our cat, visit my Mom and serve her lunch today, with his older, brother, and otherwise "guard the hen-house" while we are away!

Dear Vanessa,

So good hearing from you. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. I regret not answering your comments sooner, I appreciate them, including the fact they are gratitudes!

You must be happy, and feel more peaceful, not having negative thoughts to contend with. What are you doing to recharge yourself?

Thank you for visiting with me.

Keith,

It's always good when you drop by. I trust your vacation was just what you needed. Did you go alone?

What do you like best about time spent with your sister? I know she's your best friend.

Dear Carl,

This place is richer because of your contributions. I'm making amends for my tardy reply by commenting now.

You ARE invited. You will delight in playing Pit. Be prepared for a wonderful time of joy and fun. Really. Those who play always want to join in, again.

Thank you for your visit and your words of thanks!
