There's a wonderful story I want to share. It happened Tuesday. I was wrong.
Someone called me on something I said. I wasn't wise. Her correction excited me. I am thrilled how present I was when this event took place.
When we justify what we
do, we are not present. Justi-fying is a control pattern. I didn't do that.
This person made me a better person. I will elaborate on this story in my next post, I think.
In the meantime, here are....
My Gratitudes for Today:
1. Gathering with wonderful friends last night. It met my need for connection, closeness and celebrating life.
2. I delighted being with authentic com-panions. We shared nuggets of wisdom that meant some-thing to us. We discussed slogans. Mine was "Let Go and Let God."
3. For my health. On August 12th I ran a race. Did well. I enjoyed being with 20,000 others who regularly join in this form of exercise.
I never saw so many fit people with muscular legs. In terms of fitness, I am getting there. But I am in better shape than I've been in a long while.
4. For the work I do. I love helping others to help themselves.
5. For feeling what I want and feel. It is easy to avoid our feelings, even with ourselves. I am glad I am present, most of the time.
6. Met with someone I mentor. I cherished the vulnerability he demonstrated when we were together.
7. I am meeting with a son tonight. It brings a mixed bag of feelings. I will rest in God's presence while with this young man. I will also be present if I feel uncomfortable.
How About You?
It has been a long while since I've heard gratitudes from visitors of this inn. Would it be possible to hear what makes your heart sing? All I ask for is three.
