Dealing With Disappointment, Part II...................9/14/11

    Good evening everyone,

Have you recovered from all the partying regarding the six month anniversary of this cozy inn?  It's time to knock it off.

The other day, I wrote about processing a disappointment regarding a request I made to my ex-wife. It was related to my recent move to the Island town of Alameda. I knew the possibility of this request being answered favorably was almost nil.

Welcome to Our Six Month Anniversary!

    Hello everyone,

This is a special day. Please have a slice of cake, it's on me. Don't worry, it's calorie-free. This inn celebrates being around for six months. It's still a baby, but is it growing!

Forty-four percent of the guests to this inn dropped by in the last month. That figure is getting larger with each day. In the past 13 days we've had three thousand readers. So, the word is getting out about this place. Thank you for dropping by. Many of you haven't taken a look at the Letting Go post. I believe you'll find it helpful. To read it, click here.

I've been on the go the past few days. I've been in several cities, working, meeting with clients. I'm still recovering

Taking Time for Self and Getting Clarity When Communicating

Good day to the visitors from the U.S., Thailand, England, Spain, Nepal, Malaysia and India,
Thanks for dropping by. The past few weeks there's been a seesawing battle between England and Spain for the second position in terms of views.

These two nations almost rival the readership this inn has from the American viewers. We've had over two thousand viewers over the past week---I'm happy seeing a guest from France, our first, from Paris.  I've yet to see any from Japan.

I'd love hearing from you. I guess a guy can dream.

Fun With Friends and a Friday Flick

    Good morning,

I'll head for bed soon. I met with friends this evening, introducing one friend to others I know that he didn't. Afterwards, we saw the movie "Warrior" along with my youngest son.

My Gratitudes for Friday:

1. I haven't seen the friends I was with this evening for several weeks. It was nice being with them.
2. The movie helped me decompress. I'm glad I took time to relax.
3. I enjoyed being with my son. I appreciate times when I can connect with family.
4. I was with someone today who was judgmental. I didn't let their comments get to me. I'm thankful for not allowing others to determine my moods and define who I am.
5. I'll attend a conference tomorrow, after I sleep in tomorrow morning.
6. We've had more than 1700 visitors in the first 9 days of  this month. I'm happy this inn is able to meet the needs of many.
7. Viewers from England and Spain are almost matching the readership I have from the United States. Each of these countries are at 80 percent of what of the American viewership.
8. The readership from Brazil, Greece, Nepal, Malaysia and India has increased four-fold. Thank you for dropping by. I can't wait to hear from my international readers. Which country will be the first to speak up? If you do, I'll send you a personal gift from the innkeeper.

All right, you've heard my gratitudes, may I ask you to please share yours? That would be terrific. Thanks!

Apologies Require Specificity (Also, I'm a Wealthy Man)

     Good evening everyone,

I just got in. Spending the evening with friends at an Applebee's Restaurant in town was a nice diversion. Sharing laughter and having fun reduced the intensity I've gone through the past few days. Moving to a new city and maintaining a busy work schedule has kept me more than busy.

I must say---that phrase is a clue by the way---in this inn, I'm witnessing the strongest showing from another country other than the US. This nation gives the USA a strong run for its money, almost matching its readership. Thank you, denizens of the land of Shakespeare, Austen, Bacon, Bronte, Blake, Carew, Donne, Doyle, H.G. Wells, Kipling and Shelly for dropping by.

I can't wait to read posts from you. I enjoy the way you elegantly express our language and spell it. I.e., centre, colour, behaviour, aeroplane, et. al.  The wonderful news is that Spain almost matches England in readership. Thank you, for your visits, tambien.

Apologies

I spoke this evening about my making things right with others. I shared that an apology needs to be specific, like a compliment.Telling a person, "you're nice" isn't much of a compliment. It's vague and generic, not reflecting much thought behind it.

Checking In

The Innkeeper Is Settling Into His New Digs

Life is a great cycle of cause and effect. Everyone makes
choices every day, and everyone's choices affect others.
The combination of everyone's choices and the effect
those choices have on others makes the world what it is.

Every problem can be traced to some unloving or selfish
choice someone made. These errors are the major cause
of problems in the world today--selfishness and lack of
love. People either don't see how their wrong choices af-
fect others or they don't care enough to do things differ-
   ently.    (Photographer's caption)
   Good evening everyone,

I thought I'd get back to the inn Sunday night. No such luck.  I moved to the Island Town of Alameda this weekend.

How was your day today?  I'm happy.  This day I had three sessions with

Do You Know What It Means If We're Too Busy? Boundaries Guard Our Serenity Also: Must Haves & Can't Stands, Part I ................................ 9/4/11

You may feel that the world is too messed up, that too
many wrong choices have been made, that it doesn't
matter much what you do, that it's hopeless. But that's
not true. Just as every problem can be traced to a wrong
decision, every solution begins with a wise and loving
decision to do the right thing, the loving and unselfish
thing.

A little bit of love can make a lot of difference. One act
of kindness or unselfishness can start a whole chain re-
action of events that will, in the long run, make life a
lot better for a lot of people. So don't despair because
there is so much suffering and grief and wrong in the
world. Instead, do what you can to make things right
and encourage others to do the same. The world won't
change in a day, but we can make a difference if we
try. (Photographer's caption) All rights reserved.

     Good evening everyone,
Did you have a good Saturday? My day was mixed but that's okay. I'm going easy on myself, I'm in the midst of transitions.

Disappointed, Being Challenged, Yet Moving Forward

“What if you gave someone a gift, and they neglected to thank you for it – would you be likely to give them
another? Life is the same way. In order to attract more of the blessings that life has to offer, you must truly
appreciate what you already have.”                       Ralph Marston

     Good evening everyone,

To be honest with you, I had a bad experience writing Wednesday night for this inn. It made me reluctant to post. (I'm overcoming my resistance, as I press on tonight.) I made four attempts on Wednesday. I lost everything, each time. Very frustrating, time consuming and aggravating.

       This experience taught me

a) the dangers of.....
