Innkeeper Ruminations 4/16/21

Today, I'm airing out thoughts, staying in touch with you as we have not visi-ted lately.

With each day, my life is becoming more re-laxed, com-fortable.

My circumstances have not changed.  I've changed

This is the result of recovery.  With it, we learn to ask, "How important is it?" when finding ourselves overwhelmed.  Many things that trouble us may seem urgent, but they are not important.

Usually what troubles us is magnified by our imagination, not the reality of our challenges.

I am grateful for my personal growth.  It helps me routinely lean into relaxing and pausing when facing pressure.  This response pro-vides a calmer perspective.

I am being gentle towards myself.

Now I see the humor in the most alarming circumstances.  This is invaluable because my work is full of stress.  Don't get me wrong, I love what I do.

No two days are the same.  It involves writing a lot, scribing pre, in-session, and post-session notes.  In all, about ninety pages a week.

At times it is bit much.  Then I am reminded...

"Success depends not merely in how well we do the work we enjoy, but in how conscientiously we perform those duties that we don't. " John Maxwell,  Developing the Leader Within You.

I am careful about spreading myself thin.  When I take care of others, I notice my needs, too.  The demands of work keep me vigor-ous, mentally, and physically.

What does work offer?  The satisfac-tion of being of service, helping another become the person he or she want to be and have the life they want and deserve.  My work requires self-discipline.

Work is placing principles above my negative default modes, all the time.  This practice strengthens my character, helping me handle life on life's terms, with all of its rigors, with aplomb.

Work prompts my growth.  It motivates me.  I am my own boss.

Lately, I've been easy on myself and taken days off.   Making time to catch my breath rejuvenates me.  It also provides my life balance and ease.

Gratitudes

1.  Amazing wea-ther.  It is easy cele-brating life when the weather is marve-lous.

2.  Great connec-tions with those who make up my support network.  My need for emotional safety and closeness are met.

3.  Victory over depression, fear, and stress. Freedom from negativity makes it possible for me to know joy and gratitude.

Wishing all of us a fantastic weekend,  I know mine will be.

                 Pablo
