Gratitudes About Love

     Happy Valentine's Day!
Know that I'm happy knowing you. That's possible when you leave a comment.
Love, what a subject for gratitudes. I'm fortunate knowing the love of many and knowing many whom I love. I recently read
that the average person has gone down from three, to two close friends. I'm thankful that, as a result of grooming relationships over decades, my number is higher.
My Gratitudes about Love:
1. The love I receive from others has taught me grace.
I mess up on occasion. It's reassuring knowing my loveability is not based on being perfect. Whew. Thank God.
It gives me hope, knowing those dear to me stick with me. They see those areas where I need to grow, and still see value in me. Wow. I don't need to jump through hoops, to be loved.  I appreciate the stability this provides in my relationships with them.
2.  I'm thankful for close friends. New worlds have opened up for me, because of them. A universe is created, that didn't exist before, with each connection with a friend.  My friends help me grow, heal, and provide an emotional oasis in the midst of a society that is demanding, relentless with it's pressure and and can be dehumanizing.
3.  I celebrate the strength, vitality, honesty and openness that exists in my friendships.  They are a result of being patient.  I don't just glom onto anyone who catches my attention.  Developing my character discernment helps me to know who is safe for me. It also allows me to know those I want to avoid. I seek friends out of my fullness, not my emptiness.
"The full soul [the person who's mature and discerning] loathes the honeycomb [that which is superficially appealing, or sweet]. But for the empty soul [one that is desperate, needy and hasn't experienced much personal growth], every bitter thing is sweet [they will take anything, because they are so desperate]."
4.  I'm glad that I stand watch over my heart.
"Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it, flows the issues of life."
As a result, my heart has not been as scarred as it could be, I'm not jaded in my relationships, I'm a happier and I have an attitude of gratitude.
